4 Best Alternatives To Craigslist

Craigslist is a popular classified advertisements websites with a lot of different sections such as jobs, housing, sales, wanted items, community and lots of others. You can find many different things on Craigslist and it is probably the most used classified advertisement website out there. Before 2004 it was only used in English speaking countries, but now Craigslist is also used in major cities outside of the English speaking world. In other words: people often find what they need on Craigslist. However, it may not be available or very active where you live, or maybe you just want to try another site that is similar to Craigslist. We have come up with the following 4 alternatives to Craigslist:

Craigslist

1. Oodle

oodle
Oodle is one of Craigslist’s bigger rivals, and it is unusual in one thing: it does not only list posts from the website itself, but it also shows posts from other websites such as eBay and Marketplace and For Rent. This is very useful, because you are less likely to overlook other websites’ posts that apply to you. Oodle also has a personal ads selection, and users have the ability to list several items and link their ads and posts to their Facebook accounts. Oodle also has its own mobile app, from which you can easily edit your posts and view your listings.

2. Adoos

Adoos
When you enter Adoos’ homepage it looks very similar to Craigslist: it shows different sections of classified ads to pick from. Once you click on a category, it still looks similar to the way Craigslist lists things, but with pictures and more information in the title of every ad. Adoos has many different selections such as sale, community, vehicles, real estate, and jobs. You can either select your city or do a search for everywhere in the country (in case you are looking for something that can easily be sent through the mail or want to hire someone overseas). It is also possible to access Adoos through your Facebook account.

3. eBay Classifieds

eBay Classifieds
eBay also has its own classified ads section. Previously it was known as Kijiji, but they changed it to so that everyone will know that the site belongs to eBay. eBay Classifieds is one of Craigslist’s biggest rivals and it definitely has some advantages over CL. For instance, when you search for an item on Craigslist you just need to click on every link and hope that there is a good picture in the ad, but on eBay Classifieds you can view images in thumbnails, and another advantage is that you can sort items by price, much like on eBay.com itself. Unfortunately eBay Classifieds does not have a personal ads section, so if you are looking for a date or a potential platonic friendship in your community you will have to go find your luck elsewhere.

4. Backpage

backpage
Backpage looks very similar to Craigslist in design: the categories are listed on the page in the same rather dull design, and just like on Craigslist the ads are sorted by headlines, date and location. It also doesn’t show thumbnails of pictures but only a little camera icon to indicate that there is a picture included in the ad. However, on Backpage you do have the option to do a paid upgrade, which helps your posts become more popular. For example, you can have Backpage report your post on top of the page every once in a while or make your post a sponsored ad, with the paid upgrades.

Craigslist is a popular classified ads websites, and one of the main reasons is probably that people don’t know many alternative websites. If you look at all the other websites you can see that Craigslist is missing some important things, such as an appealing design or the ability to see thumbnails of pictures so that you don’t have to open every individual ad in order to see if it applies to you.
