1. Do Not Disturb
By now you have probably discovered the ‘Do Not Disturb’-feature. This option comes in handy if you get calls later then you would wish, or if you don’t want to be called at work. With ‘Do Not Disturb’ you can select a time (for instance, from 10 PM till 7 AM) in which you don’t want to receive calls. However, if you have children or a spouse you may want them to be able to still reach you. Luckily you can set the ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature to accept calls from your favorites only. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Do Not Disturb’ and go to the middle of the screen. Then click on ‘Allow calls from’ and select who you want to allow calls from.
2. Battery Percentage
If you are not great at estimating the amount of battery time that you have left before your phone dies, you are not the only one. In fact, the iPhone has a little battery percentage indicator that you can switch on. This way you can see exactly how much time you have left and when you need to charge it again. To activate this feature, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘General’ > ‘Usage’. Then scroll down and toggle the ‘Battery percentage’ to on.

The swipe feature gives users the option to swipe words on their keyboard to form words quicker. Find My iPhone is probably one of the better features of the iPhone 5, and previous versions didn’t have the option yet. Find My iPhone helps you locate where your phone is on the map. If you activate Find My iPhone you can track your phone on the map with one click of a button. That way you have chance of getting back your phone if it’s lost or stolen. Of course it doesn’t always work, and sometimes the map isn’t very up to date, but when you want to find back your iPhone, this is your best shot. To activate Find My iPhone go to ‘Settings’ . ‘iCloud’ > ‘Find My iPhone’.
When you are talking to other people that have an iPhone, iPad, Mac or iPod you probably want to use iMessage instead of regular text messages. That way you avoid spending money, and it is often faster. However, when your internet is not working you probably want to make sure that your iMessage gets sent as a text. There is a feature for that. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Messages’ > ‘Send as SMS’ and slide to ‘on’.
